I sit here typing this blog post using the new browse that Google just released. I must say that I am quite impressed so far.
The internet is abuzz and with good reason. It is the fastest loading easiest to use browser that I have used so far. I will comment again after using it for a while, but at this point I’m impressed.
It’s open source and rebuilt from the ground up with today’s web applications in mind.

I’m excited to see what they do for add-ins. Here’s the closest thing I’ve found so far, http://www.chromeaddins.com.
I’m not impressed yet. They should have taken a fresh approach to browsing, not just put out yet another browser to test against. I also find their decision to create their own Javascript engine to be curious when both WebKit and Mozilla have brand new, much faster parsers coming in their next iterations (Firefox 3.1 and Safari 4).
I think it is likely that the innovations that they have made as far as multi-threaded event handling, independent memory management for the tabs, precise garbage collection, and the V8 javascript engine are impressive. I know that they have open sourced it, and built some of it off of webkit, so I expect to see V8 utilized in part by other browsers – possibly firefox.
Also, I like their user interface changes such as the tabs at the top, and the tab independence.
Hopefully it will spur more competition. 😉
Well, I think of it as a good browser so far. I have been using both Chrome and Firefox side by side (trying to use Chrome a lot). I am happy so far. Here’s a log of what I have seen: http://blog.gadodia.net/google-chrome-vs-mozilla-firefox/
“We are so, so happy with Google Chrome,” mumbled Mozilla CEO John Lilly through gritted teeth. “That most of our income is from Google has no bearing on me making this statement.” http://notnews.today.com/?p=57
